Reminisce on our 2017 National Finals with us!
Last month we hosted our 2017 Myrtle Beach, SC National Finals at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort! The talent and passion each dancer possessed was clear from day one, and the week was only beginning at that point!
On day two, the dancers took convention classes with our fabulous faculty. Riverdance soloist, Aaron Tolson, taught our Tap convention classes and Marissa Milele, as seen on season 12 of So You Think You Can Dance, led our Jazz convention classes. Our Hip Hop classes were taught by Steps on Broadway faculty, Matt Lopez and our Contemporary classes were led by Erica Klein, who was featured in Elliot Moss’ music video “Without the Lights.”
Day three of our Myrtle Beach National Finals featured continued competition and our dance parties! The Junior Beach Bash hosted our 12 & under dancers while our GrooveFest Gala welcomed our 13 & over dancers. On day three we were also honored to announce our overall studio awards:

The final day of our 2017 National Finals in Myrtle Beach, SC started with our Dancer of the Year competition. Each dancer had to compete a solo during our Dancer of the Year competition, submit an essay inspired by a Groove-provided prompt and participate in all convention classes in their age division. We’re pleased to announce the winners of our 2017 Myrtle Beach Dancer of the Year competition:

Each Dancer of the Year winner received a full Groove convention scholarship, a plaque, a custom Groove Dancer of the Year sweatshirt, a $150 cash prize and an invitation to be one of our 2018 dancewear models!
On the final day of our National Finals we also held our Parent Dance Battle! Five studios were represented in this competition for charity and through their entry fees we were able to donate over $3,000 to the Lupus Foundation on behalf of the winner of the Parent Dance Battle, “Me and My Crew” from Movement Dance Academy!
Our 2017 Myrtle Beach National Finals concluded with The JAM which kicked off with our Opening Number routine, choreographed by Jill Lazzini, featuring over 50 dancers! Over 40 group entries performed in The JAM, each competing to be named the winner of The JAM and walk away with our $1,000 cash prize. The winner of The JAM in Myrtle Beach, SC was “The Rose” from The Dance Refinery!
